BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A Brooklyn teacher was arrested Thursday for promoting prostitution and engaging in sexual acts with a minor, according to police.

Waris Grant, a 37-year-old teacher at Bed-Stuy’s P.S. 256 Benjamin Banneker, is accused of acting in a manner injurious to a child, among other charges.

Grant allegedly paid a teenage boy for oral sex, according to the New York Post.

The teen was not a student at the school, according to the Department of Education.

“While the allegations against Mr. Grant are not school-related, they are deeply disturbing,” DOE spokeswoman Devora Kaye said in a statement.

The agency “took swift action” to remove Grant from the classroom, Kaye added.

Grant, who had been teaching at P.S. 256 since September 2003, was immediately reassigned away from students on Thursday pending resolution of the case, officials said.
