QUEENS — A livery van operator was shot dead during a fight with a fellow driver in Rockaway Beach Tuesday morning, police said.

Leon Brown, 38, was near his red van at the intersection of Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 81st Street about 8 a.m. when he started fighting with the other driver, also a man, witnesses and NYPD officials said.

The dispute escalated and the suspect shot the 38-year-old from Far Rockaway in the chest before fleeing the scene in a white livery van, an NYPD spokesman said.

The victim was pronounced dead at St. John's Episcopal Hospital, police said.

His killer was not immediately arrested, police said.
