FLATLANDS — A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn, police said.

Isiah Joseph was fatally shot in the back by a single bullet about 1:15 p.m. at Avenue H and East 56th Street in the Flatlands, police said. A 20-year-old man was also shot in the torso and wounded during the incident.

"Right now it just feels like a nightmare. I'm waiting to wake up from it," said Nadine Joseph, Joseph's mother, outside her Flatlands home.

Both victims were taken to Brookdale Hospital, where Joseph was pronounced dead. The second victim, who was not identified, was listed in stable condition.

Melik Williston, 17, said he met Joseph about four years ago and became good friends with the teen.

"I'm still shocked. He was coming to see me," said Williston, who lived near the site of the shooting and heard shots being fired.

Williston said he ran outside and saw Joseph laying on the sidewalk. He called 911 but his friend could not be saved.

"I feel like I lost my little brother honestly," said Williston, who recalled Joseph recently talking about his plans to go to college and have a family.

"He was a real man," he said.

Joseph attended high school at the Prospect Heights Educational Complex, according to Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo, who represents the school's district and spoke about his death at a 77th Precinct council meeting Monday night.

"It's deeply disturbing that we lost another young life," she said.

Police are searching for suspects who were caught on camera running from the incident’s location after they approached the two victims and fired several shots, striking each victim only once, police said.

Police sources said the shooting may have been connected to street gang activity.

The man in the recording wearing the black jacket with gray pants is the shooter, according to police. One of the suspects had a red piece of cloth hanging from his pocket a possible sign of the Bloods gang, sources say.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
