CHELSEA — Tres Carnes, the smoked-meat taco chain, is considering opening a fifth location near Penn Station, according to city filings.

The owners applied for a beer and wine license for a five-table spot at 391 Eighth Ave., near West 30th Street.

Tres Carnes specializes in brisket, smoked chicken and smoked pork shoulder, tucked into flour or corn tortillas and accompanied by sides like chipotle squash or street-cart corn with smoky lime mayo. Burritos, two tacos, bowls and salads are about $9 to $10.

Tres Carnes also features a rotating “Weekly Smoke,” which recently included beef cheeks, Portobello mushrooms and antelope. Beer and micheladas, margarita-like beer drinks, are also on the menu, along with agave limeade and a churro doughnut for dessert.

On Monday, the chain advertised a $3 burrito special to celebrate the opening of their fourth location on Second Avenue.

Tres Carnes’ owner declined to speak about the new spot.
