Service Changes Will Hit 14 Subway Lines This Weekend

NEW YORK — Construction and maintenance work will disrupt 14 lines this weekend, so straphangers should plan for extra travel time, the MTA said.

Here’s a breakdown of the changes by line:

1 line:
South Ferry-bound 1 trains will run express from 96th Street to Times Square-42nd Street from 11:45 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday. To get to the 86th, 79th, 66th, 59th, and 50th Street stops, take the South Ferry-bound 1 train to 72nd Street or Times Square-42nd Street and then transfer to an uptown 1 or 2 local train instead. For service from these stations take an uptown 1 or 2 train to 72nd Street or 96th Street and then transfer to a South Ferry-bound 1 train.

2 line:
Flatbush Avenue-Brooklyn College-bound 2 trains will run express from 96th Street to Times Square-42nd Street from 11:45 p.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. on Sunday and then again from 11:45 p.m. on Sunday until 5 a.m. on Monday.

3 line:
3 trains will serve 34th Street-Penn Station starting at 11:45 p.m. on Friday and until 6 a.m. on Sunday and then from 11:45 on Sunday until 5 a.m. on Monday.

4 Line:
Woodlawn-bound 4 trains will run local from Grand Central-42nd Street to 125th Street beginning 12:01 a.m. on Saturday until 5:00 a.m. Monday.

5 Line:
5 trains will operate between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and Bowling Green all weekend and will run local in Manhattan. They'll replace 6 trains from 11:45 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday.

6 line:
6 trains will be suspended in both directions between 125th Street and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall from 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Take the 5 train instead by transferring from the 6 to the 5 at 125th Street.

6 trains will also skip Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue in both directions until February. The Bx4 and shuttle buses will provide alternative service to and from Zerega Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue (free transfer with a MetroCard). Take the Bx8 or Bx24 buses for service to and from Buhre Avenue. Shuttle buses will also connect Buhre Avenue and Middletown Road.

Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 trains will run express from 3rd Avenue-138th Street to Hunts Point Avenue from 11:45 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday. To get to Brook Avenue, Cypress Avenue, East 143rd Street, East 149th Street and Longwood Avenue, take the Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 train to Hunts Point Avenue and transfer to a Manhattan-bound 6. From these stations, catch a Manhattan-bound 6 train and head to Third Avenue-138th Street to transfer to a Pelham Bay Park-bound 6.

7 line:
7 trains are suspended in both directions between Flushing-Main Street and Mets-Willets Point this weekend from 11:45 p.m. on Friday to 4 a.m. on Monday. Free shuttle buses will be available between these stations.  

A line:
Queens-bound A trains will run express from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street from 11:45 p.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. on Sunday and then again from 11:45 p.m. on Sunday to 5 a.m. on Monday.

Inwood-207th Street bound A trains will skip 104th Street and 88th Street at all times until February.

To get to 104th Street, take a Brooklyn-bound A train to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to an Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A.

To catch a train from 104th Street, take an Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train to 111th Street or Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train.

For service to 88th Street, take a Brooklyn-bound A train to 80th Street and then transfer to a Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue or Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard bound A train. From 88th Street, they can take a Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue or Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A to Rockaway Boulevard and then transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train.

C line: 
C trains will run express from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street and they will run every 15 minutes. These changes will be in effect Saturday and Sunday starting at 6:30 a.m. and ending at 11 p.m. on both days.

E line:
World Trade Center-bound E trains will run express from 34th Street-Penn Station to Canal Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. To get to 23rd Street and Spring Street, you can take a World Trade Center-bound E train to 14th Street or Canal Street and transfer to an uptown local A, C or E train. From 23rd Street and Spring Street, take an uptown A, C or E to West 4th Street-Washington Square or 34th Street-Penn Station and transfer to a World Trade Center-bound E train.

Additionally, E trains run local in both directions between Queens Plaza and Forest Hills-71st Avenue from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. on Monday.

F Line:
F trains will run express from West 4th Street-Washington Square to 34th Street-Herald Square starting at 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. F trains will run local in both directions between 21st Street-Queensbridge and Forest Hills-71st Avenue starting at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday until 5 a.m. on Monday. 

N Line:
N trains will be suspended in both directions between Lexington Avenue-59th Street and Queensboro Plaza from 11:45 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Service between Queens and Manhattan is available by taking a 7 train to Times Square-42nd Street and/or to Queensboro Plaza.

Q Line: 
There will be no Q trains between 57th Street-Seventh Avenue and Times Square-42nd Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Take the N or R instead. Coney Island-bound Q trains will run express from Prospect Park to Sheepshead Bay from 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

R line:
R trains will skip Fifth Avenue-59th Street, Lexington Avenue-59th Street, and Queens Plaza stations in both directions from 5:15 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday, but you can catch an E or F train instead which will run local in Queens.
