UPPER WEST SIDE — A man tried to rob a Chase bank Tuesday but fled without any cash, police said.

The suspect approached the teller at the branch on Columbus Avenue between West 72nd and 73rd streets just after 11 a.m. and passed the teller a note demanding money, police said. But he then ran out of the bank without any money and headed east on 72nd Street.

Police describe the suspect as approximately 35 years old, 5-foot-6 and weighing about 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hat, gray sneakers, a black coat and blue jeans.

The local Chase branch declined to comment.

In early December, another Chase branch was robbed by a man who took an unidentified amount of cash and then fled.
