JACKSON HEIGHTS — Get rid of your Christmas tree and help keep the city green at an annual event this weekend at Travers Park.

The Parks Department's Mulchfest 2015 runs Jan. 10-11 at the 34th Avenue park, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Organizers will chop up your old Christmas tree in front of you, and even send you home with your own bag of mulch to insulate flower beds and trees.

The mulch generated from these trees will also be used in parks around the city, the department said.

MillionTreesNYC is also looking for Volunteers to help spread mulch, and those interested can RSVP by emailing RSVP@milliontreesnyc.org
