Woman Fends Off Sex Attacker Who Threw Her to the Ground, Police Say

QUEENS — A 24-year-old woman fought off a man who grabbed her from behind, flung her to the ground and tried to rape her in late December, police said.

The woman was walking along 43rd Avenue about 2:40 a.m. when a man came up behind her, put his hand over her mouth and pulled her to the ground, according to the NYPD.

The woman fought with him and he fled the scene, police said.

The suspect is 5-foot-5, 130 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair and "pocked skin," according to NYPD officials.

He was last seen wearing black sneakers, a brown jacket and a black backpack, police said.
