LINCOLN SQUARE — A Department of Sanitation worker injured his left arm and hand near Lincoln Square Wednesday morning, witnesses and officials said.
Anthony Riaza, 43, was on his trash collection route along West 66th Street near Columbus Avenue when he was hurt about 7 a.m., FDNY and DSNY officials said.
"I saw a man sitting on the sidewalk, his legs open. He was holding his arm between his legs like he couldn't move it," said Olga Rivera, 26, a worker at nearby Illy cafe.
The 21-year Sanitation veteran was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, FDNY officials said.
A Sanitation spokeswoman did not know how Riaza was injured, but said the incident is under investigation.
