MANHATTAN — A man dragged a woman through a Washington Heights lot Christmas morning and bashed a beer bottle over her head, knocking her to the ground, according to graphic video released by police.

The attacker first came up behind the 45-year-old woman while she was walking through the neighborhood shortly before 8 a.m., but she ran away, according to the NYPD.

He caught up to her outside the state Department of Corrections residential building at 611 Edgecombe Ave., near West 163rd Street, police said. An NYPD spokesman said the attack did not appear to be related to the facility.

In footage of the incident, the attacker is seen pulling the victim through the lot as she's bent over and struggling to get away, then hitting her in the face with the beer bottle.

He pulls her a few feet farther before cracking the bottle over her head and walking away as she lies on the ground.

The attack left her with cuts, swelling and bruising to her head, police said. She was listed in stable condition at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia hospital, police said.

The attacker is about 40 years old, 6 feet tall and 220 pounds with brown eyes and hair, NYPD officials said.

He was last seen wearing black jeans with matching boots and a jacket, police said.
