CARROLL GARDENS — More than $14,000 worth of expensive jewelry was stolen from a Carroll Gardens apartment, police said.

A 37-year-old woman said she was recently packing in the apartment on the 200-block of Huntington Street when she noticed the valuables were no longer in a drawer, where she usually keeps them, police said.

The last time she saw the pricey trinkets was about a month ago. She estimates the theft took place between Nov. 24 and Dec. 28, according to the police report.

The total cost of the missing valuables is $14,050, which includes a pair of $5,000 platinum and diamond earrings, gold and pearl earrings worth $1,500, a diamond and platinum antique watch worth $7,500 and a $50 hair clip.

Other notable incidents in the 76th Precinct, according to police, include:

► A $550 cast iron tree guard was stolen between 3 p.m. on Christmas Day and 10 a.m. the next morning from the corner of Clinton and Degraw streets, police said.

► A 56-year-old old man was attacked and robbed by a man who had just sold three blankets to him in Red Hook, police said.

After the victim purchased the blankets from the man on Lorraine Street, the seller followed him to his Hicks Street apartment building and entered the elevator with him on Dec. 12 about 6 p.m., police said.

The robber pushed the victim against the wall and knocked him to the ground. He then placed an unknown object against the victim's head and said, “You know what it is, give it up” before reaching into the victim’s pocket and taking $300 in cash.

He also stepped on the victim’s glasses and broke them.

The cost of the blankets was not immediately known. No arrests have been made in the case.
