QUEENS — Police released photos and video Tuesday of a man who they say choked and tried to rape a 15-year-old girl in St. Albans this past summer.
Investigators say the suspect, described as being in his early 20s, was seen buying a beer in a deli on Farmers Boulevard, near 111th Avenue, on July 12 at about 11 p.m.
After leaving the store, the attacker approached the teen, who sources said was visiting from Virginia, and began a conversation with her a few blocks away, near a local schoolyard, sources said.
The man then choked the girl until she passed out and tried to rape her before running away, officials said.
It was not clear what made the man flee, police said.
The suspect was last seen wearing red Adidas track pants and a red Adidas shirt. The man also has a tattoo on the right side of his neck and arm, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
