WEST VILLAGE — The 18-year-old student who hit a teacher with a stun gun at a West Village high school last week was arrested and charged with a felony after turning himself in.

Kyle Allwood's mother brought him to the 6th Precinct on Friday, Dec. 6, the day after he attacked a 30-year-old female teacher at City-As-School, according to sources and court records.

Allwood struck just before 1 p.m. after he had a conversation with the teacher and the teacher turned around to walk away, according to court documents.

The teacher immediately felt a "burning and biting sensation" in her back, records show, and turned around to see Allwood holding "a black box with lights," prosecutors said. Allwood then jammed the weapon into the teacher's stomach, and she again felt a burning sensation, prosecutors said.

The teacher was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries to her back and stomach, police said.

Allwood fled with the weapon after the attack, police said, and the school was put on lockdown, sources said.

Allwood was arraigned on a felony assault charge. He was held in jail for one night on $5,000 bail and $10,000 bond, then he was released. He is due in court again on Dec. 10.

Allwood's attorney declined to comment. An administrator at City-As-School who would not identify herself said, "Everything's been taken care of," and hung up.
