NEW DORP BEACH — A burglar threw a brick through the window of a New Dorp Beach restaurant and stole a cash register inside last month, police said.

Stunning video footage shows the hapless thief adjusting the camera to point it in another direction, but it still shows him breaking in at a leisurely pace.

The suspect broke the back window of Di Sara Restaurant, 121 Roma Ave., on Nov. 20 around 2:50 a.m., police said.

The man then entered the restaurant, took the cash register with roughly $300 inside, then fled on foot, police said.

Video shows him inside the restaurant struggling to pry open the register before he abandons the plan and settles for taking the whole thing.

The eatery was gutted after Hurricane Sandy decimated New Dorp Beach, and was overhauled and reopened a year after the storm, according to their website.

The owner could not be reached for comment.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
