MIDTOWN — Thanksgiving travelers may be seeing red before the cranberries even hit the table.

A strong rain-and-snow mix coming up from the south threatens to cause problems across the area on what’s already the busiest travel day of the year.

The wet weather is expected to begin about 9 a.m. Wednesday and linger into the night, dumping up to three-quarters of an inch of rain on the city, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain is expected to give way to snow flurries around 11 p.m. and continue until 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving, blanketing the city with anywhere from 1 to 3 inches, according to the NWS.

The system is expected to clear early Thursday morning and give way to some sun and temperatures around 40 degrees.

Monday’s high should reach 70 degrees after early-morning rain moves out of the area, while Tuesday should be mostly sunny with a high around 55 degrees, according to the NWS.
