BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A police officer shown on video beating a young man in the head with a nightstick Thursday night is under investigation, the NYPD said.

The recording shows the officer striking alleged turnstile-jumper, Donovan Lawson, 20, in the head in the Myrtle Avenue/Broadway station on the border of Bedford-Stuyvesant and Bushwick just before 8 p.m.

The video shows the officer continue to a struggle with the man at the station’s benches as blood pours down Lawson's face.

Later, Lawson is heard saying “I love you” to a crying woman who he embraces as officers attempt to arrest him.

Witnesses claim pepper spray was used on Lawson prior to the clubbing, according to the video.

As he and the woman are intertwined, another officer can be heard saying, “Let go now, right now or I’m going to taze you.”

A group of four police officers gathered to take Lawson into custody while onlookers commented, “that was not necessary,” and “he did not have to do that.”

It's unclear if Lawson was charged with a crime.
