WILLIAMSBURG — A 15-year-old boy has been arrested for attacking a Hasidic Jewish man at the Marcy Avenue train station this week while yelling anti-Semitic slurs, police said.

The teen, whose name is being withheld by police, was charged with assault as a hate crime for attacking the 53-year-old man around 4 p.m. on Monday, police said.

The victim, who police identified as Hasidic, was visiting New York from Israel to receive cancer treatment when the teen and two others approached him from behind, spat on his face and attacked him with an umbrella, according to police and the news site JPUpdates.

A second suspect then kicked the man in the lower back several times while making anti-Jewish comments, police said. The third suspect joined in on the anti-Semitic remarks but did not physically attack the victim, police said.

The three people then escaped on a Manhattan-bound M train, the NYPD added.

Police would not say which of the suspects was the one arrested but noted he had no previous arrests.

He is being tried in Brooklyn Family Court, the NYPD said.

Officials are still investigating the other two suspects, police said.
