MANHATTAN — A man died after a fight at a Washington Heights bus stop Monday with another man who took off running, but was arrested shortly afterwards, police said.

The victim, who police said is in his 30s, but whose name was not released, got into a dispute with a 33-year-old man at an M101 stop at the corner of West 177th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, about 4:40 a.m., an NYPD spokesman said.

The victim suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia, police said.

The suspect, who was not immediately identified, fled the scene after the fight, but police caught him a short while later, an NYPD spokesman said.

Charges against him were still pending later Monday morning.
