QUEENS — There were delays and train cancellations during the Long Island Rail Road evening commute after a man was struck by a train at the Woodside station Friday, officials said.

The man was hit at the station at 61st Street and Roosevelt Avenue a little after 6 p.m., a fire department spokesman said. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition.

Power had to be shut off at the station while he was removed from the tracks, but has since been restored, an MTA spokesman said.

Service was restored to Forest Hills and Kew Gardens stations by 6:43 p.m., according to the MTA website.

Commuters traveling to Woodside from Penn Station were able to take the Port Washington branch.

Some residual delays and cancellations were still expected through the evening rush.
