THE BRONX — Two would-be thieves shoved an 83-year-old woman to the ground Tuesday after she refused to give up her purse in her Claremont Village apartment building, police said.

The elderly woman cut her head as she fell in the lobby of her Longfellow Avenue apartment building, police said.

The woman, whose name was not released, had just walked into the building near the Bronx River about 6 p.m. when two men followed her inside and demanded her purse, according to the NYPD.

She refused, and they shoved her, police said.

Investigators continued to search Thursday morning for the suspects, who fled — without the purse — but were captured on surveillance footage that was released by police.

The woman was treated at St. Barnabas Hospital and released, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
