MANHATTAN — A straphanger was punched in the face while chasing after a group of men who stole his iPhone on a 1 train in the Upper West Side, according to the NYPD.

The 29-year-old man was on the train as it approached the 110th Street station about 5:15 p.m. Sept. 25 when four men surrounded him, police said.

Once the doors opened, one of them, a man wearing a red and white wind breaker with a beanie, snatched the straphanger's iPhone 4S and fled onto the platform with the three others, NYPD officials said.

The victim ran after them but the phone snatcher slugged him in the face and escaped, police said.

The 29-year-old was treated for a cut to his lip at a nearby hospital, officials said.

The other three suspects can be seen in photos released by police.

One one wore a gray hoodie with a gray and black striped beanie.

Another had a black hoodie with white drawstrings.

And the other wore a black letterman jacket with black-and-white striped cuffs.
