Cement Truck Hits and Kills Pedestrian in Astoria, Police Say

QUEENS — A 60-year-old man was killed when a cement truck struck him as he was crossing Northern Boulevard Wednesday afternoon, according to the NYPD

The man was walking south across the boulevard at 34th Street when the truck, which was heading west, struck him at 12:22 p.m., a police spokeswoman said.

The man was rushed to Mount Sinai Queens, where he died, the spokeswoman added.

The 29-year-old driver remained on the scene, the spokeswoman added.

The truck was stopped above a pool of blood near the middle of the boulevard about halfway between 34th and 33rd streets, according to photographs and witnesses. 

The NYPD’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
