NEW BRIGHTON — The Staten Island woman who killed her 80-year-old husband this week beat him in the head with a crowbar and then tried to set fire to their car, prosecutors said.

Antionetta Baldassare, 67, was arraigned Friday at Richmond University Medical Center and charged with murder, arson and criminal possession of a weapon, the District Attorney's office said.

On Wednesday, firefighters found Baldassare's husband, Frank Baldassare, in a bathtub with head trauma after they put out the burning Chevrolet Equinox in the garage at 405 Victory Blvd., police said.

Police could not say what prompted the slaying, but the New York Post reported Baldassare told police that she was “sick and tired” of her husband abusing her.

The paper reported that she bound herself with duct tape and set fire to their home.

Baldassare was taken to Richmond University Medical Center for smoke inhalation and is in stable condition, police said. She's due back in court on Oct. 17, according to the District Attorney's office.

Her lawyer, Maria Guastella, could not be reached for comment.
