CROWN HEIGHTS — Police dug up human remains in the backyard of a St. John's Place duplex Thursday after getting an anonymous tip, according to police and reports.

Investigators believe the remains, which were found behind St. Johns Place, near Bedford Avenue, may be those of a man who was killed a decade ago, according to NBC and the New York Times.

The medical examiner's office will determine how the man died, the Times reported.

The tip came as a result of a federal drug investigation several months ago, according to NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton.

An NYPD spokesman could not confirm the details or provide any additional information about the incident.

The residents of the building are not believed to be connected to the incident, according to the New York Post.
