QUEENS — A man slashed a woman across the throat inside a Jamaica apartment building, critically injuring her, after she refused to talk to him, police said.

The 26-year-old victim, whose name was not released, turned her back on the man when he tried talking to her in the lobby of a building on 171st Street, near Jamaica Avenue, on Oct. 1 about 5:15 a.m.

He then suddenly grabbed her and slashed her neck, according to the NYPD.

The woman did not live in the building, and a police spokeswoman did not know what she was doing in the building at the time.

She was rushed to an area hospital where she was listed in stable condition, police said.

The suspect, who can be seen in surveillance video released by investigators, fled the scene and had not been captured as of Wednesday, according to the NYPD.

The man, who is about 20, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, was wearing black sneakers and blue jeans, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
