Serial Robber Hits Greenwich Village Banks, Police Say

GREENWICH VILLAGE — A thief robbed two banks within an hour of each other, just days after making off with more than $1,000 from an East Village Chase branch, police said.

The suspect, whom the police have described as a “possibly albino” man in his mid-to-late-20s, stole $5,340 from the banks on Monday afternoon, police said.

The thief took $600 from a Citibank branch at 1107 Broadway at 2:41 p.m., according to the NYPD, and then stole $4,740 from a Chase bank at 835 Broadway at 3:22 p.m.

In both cases, police said, the suspect approached the tellers, pressed a note demanding money against the glass and then fled with cash.The bank robberies occurred just two days after the suspect stole $1,080 from a Chase branch on the corner of Second Avenue and St. Marks Place, according to the NYPD.

Police said the man is 5-foot-10 with a medium build and light hair. In each incident, he was seen wearing dark-rimmed glasses, a dark cap and a red bandana around his neck.
