Man Attacked With Hammer While Sleeping in LES Home Invasion, Police Say

MANHATTAN — A Lower East Side man was woken up in his apartment by another man beating him in the head with a hammer, police said.

The assault happened on the ninth floor of 160 Madison St. on Sept. 7 at about 8 a.m., according to the NYPD. When the unidentified 22-year-victim tried to flee, the suspect hit him again on the head and arm, police added.

The suspect eventually then fled.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
