UNION SQUARE — A GE Capital staffer crossing Fifth Avenue just steps from his home was hit and killed Sunday by a white sedan that fled the scene, police said.

Doohee Cho, 33, was crossing the avenue westbound between 15th and 16th streets about 3:15 a.m. when the white 2014 Chevrolet Impala heading southbound plowed into him, according to the NYPD.

Cho, who lived on the same block, suffered severe head injuries and was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Cho worked as an assistant vice president at GE Capital, according to his brother.

Police released a surveillance video that shows the car, which had New York state tags, with its right front headlight out, making a right left onto 14th Street from Fifth Avenue just after the collision.

The driver remained at large Monday morning.

An illuminated police sign near the site of the crash asked for anyone with information to contact police.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
