Drunk Man Struck By Car After Falling Asleep Under It, Police Say

SUNSET PARK — A drunk man who fell asleep under a car in Sunset Park was injured when the vehicle's driver pulled out of its parking spot early Monday morning, police said.

The man, whose age and identity were not immediately available, was snoozing beneath the car on 39th Street near Eighth Avenue, according to police. The man was intoxicated at the time, according to police.

When the car's driver started the vehicle and accelerated about 5:40 a.m., he inadvertently hit the man who cried out after he was struck, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and did not face any charges, police said.

The injured man was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center and is in stable condition, according to police.
