SOUTH STREET SEAPORT — Tickets are on sale now for favorite local food festival and school fundraiser, the Taste of the Seaport — an event that's raising money with tasty bites, some from newly reopened Seaport eateries.

The annual outdoor food fest, in its fifth year, raises funds for the Spruce Street School, which opened in 2010, and, now, the Peck Slip School, an elementary school currently housed in Tweed Courthouse while its permanent South Street Seaport building is under construction.

The day-long festival, scheduled for Oct. 18, offers “tastes” from local restaurants that donate their time — and food — for the al fresco event along Front Street, between Peck Slip and Beekman Street.

This year's event will also celebrate the return of some popular Seaport eateries, many of which had been closed for more than a year since Hurricane Sandy — including Nelson Blue and Keg 229.

New Seaport bar Ambrose Hall will be participating for the first time this year, as well FiDi restaurant Da Claudio, an eatery launched by the former owners of beloved Seaport restaurant Barbarini.

The festival also includes live music and family-friendly activities.

All the proceeds will support the Spruce Street School's and Peck Slip School's music, art and physical education programs.

The Taste of the Seaport will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Front Street, between Peck Slip and Beekman Street. Advanced tickets can be purchased here for the Oct. 18 event. Tickets are $35 for five tastes or $120 for a family pack of 20 tastes. Day-of tickets are $40 or $125.
