QUEENS — A second suspect in the shooting death of a 14-year-old girl fatally struck by a stray bullet while riding a city bus in May 2013 has been arrested, police said.
Shamel Capers, 21, is charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment in connection with the shooting death of D’aja Robinson, police said.
D'aja was riding a Q6 bus from a friend’s Sweet 16 when she was shot dead aboard the bus on Sutphin Boulevard near Baisley Pond Park on May 18, 2013, the NYPD said.
Police arrested suspected gunman Kevin McClinton, 21, in South Carolina the next month and charged him with murder, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
Investigators believe McClinton was aiming at a gang rival who was also on the bus at the time, police sources said.
Robinson’s funeral was held at the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral and concluded with a horse and carriage procession paid for by South Jamaica-native “50 Cent.”
