MANHATTAN — A man who stands a towering 6-foot-9 was arrested Thursday, two days after he followed a woman up to her Washington Heights apartment, pushed his way into her home and raped her, police said.
Jean Rodriguez, 23, was in the elevator of a building at Broadway and West 163rd Street with the 20-year-old tenant, whose name was not released, and followed her to her floor about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, the NYPD said.
He then went to her apartment door, pushed his way inside and raped her, police said.
The woman was taken to New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center in stable condition, according to the NYPD.
In surveillance video released by police, Rodriguez can be seen skulking out of the elevator and walking down a hallway.
Rodriguez, who lived in Concourse in The Bronx, was arrested Thursday on charges of rape, burglary, menacing, sexual abuse and committing a criminal sex act, police said.
