INWOOD — Starbucks has a new offering on its menu: Live music.

Cuban singer-songwriter Danay Suarez will perform at Starbucks' Dyckman Street location Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., as part of "Noches Culturales," a series hosted by the coffee chain in cities nationwide.

Suarez was one of the principal figures in Cuban's underground rap movement, according to her bio for the event. She has performed around the world, including as the headliner at Colombia's "Hip Hop al Parque" festival. Suarez will perform an acoustic set with three accompanying musicians, a representative for her said.

"Noches Culturales" is a series created through a partnership between Starbucks and Pili Montilla, the host and producer of a popular Spanish-language music show, "Te Para Tres con Pili Montilla." The series was created to highlight music from the Latino community and coincided with the release of new, Latin-influenced menu items at Starbucks, such as Cafe Con Leche.

"Noches Culturales" kicked off in Los Angeles in January with a performance by Irene Diaz. Similar events have been held in San Diego, San Antonio, Houston and Miami. This is the first part of the series to take place in New York City.
