MANHATTAN — A broken rail halted N and Q service between Manhattan and Queens during the Tuesday evening commute, transit officials said.

The damaged equipment at the Lexington Avenue-59th Street station stopped service in both directions between Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard and 59th Street, according to the MTA.

R trains were running on the F line between 57th Street-7th Avenue and 36th Street in Queens.

Riders were advised to take the 7, F or R lines to Queensboro Plaza or 21 Street-Queensbridge.

N train shuttle service was running between Queensboro Plaza and Astoria.

Some riders were understandably frustrated.

"Take the 7 train. The N and Q are not running to Queens. 25 min commute just turned to 1 1/2 hours :(" tweeted @lipshanks at 6:44 p.m.

Commuters can check the MTA website for service updates.
