MANHATTAN — A Japanese tourist who went missing while walking his daughter's dog Tuesday morning has been found, police said.

Makatsu Ito, 69, left his daughter's Park Avenue apartment near East 28th Street about 8 a.m. to walk her 11-year-old shih tzu-terrier mix, named Buddy, his family said.

He was found in the afternoon sitting on a bench in Battery Park.

Ito, a retired baker who speaks no English, was in town for the first time in two years, his daughter said.

The father and daughter had gone to see Japanese pitcher Masahiro Tanaka for the Yankees before Tuesday's scare, she said.

Ito takes medications that could have disoriented him while walking Buddy, his daughter said.
