QUEENS — A man fatally stabbed a relative and wounded his own mother in her Springfield Gardens home before plunging the blade into his leg Wednesday evening, police said.

The 27-year-old stabbed his mother and a 25-year-old man whose relationship to the family was unclear inside 146-15 176th St., near 145th Avenue, about 6:40 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The male relative, who was stabbed in the torso, was taken to Jamaica Hospital and pronounced dead, police said. The suspect's mother was taken to the same hospital and listed in stable condition, according to the NYPD.

The suspect, who had not been formally charged as of 8:30 a.m. Thursday, was also taken to Jamaica Hospital and listed in stable condition, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

Police did not immediately release the names of anyone involved.

The suspect has been arrest four times before, including a trespassing charge from 2007 and marijuana charges in 2010 and 2009, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
