RED HOOK — Two women were robbed in Red Hook early Monday morning by a man wielding a laser pointer, police said.

The victims were walking on Verona Street between Richards and Dwight streets about 2:10 a.m. when a man approached them and said, “Hey you,” police said.

The man pointed the laser at the two women and demanded their handbags.

“Give me your pocketbook, give me your wallet or I’ll shoot you,” he told the victims, according the police.

The man took an iPhone 4, credit and debit cards, drivers’ licenses, keys, a cosmetic bag and $110 in cash.

The robber was described as about 5-foot-9 and was wearing black jeans and a black tank top. No arrests have been made.

Other notable crimes in the 76th Precinct, according to police, include:

► A 55-year-old mother was arrested for repeatedly striking her 37-year-old daughter with an umbrella about 1 p.m. Friday at Hoyt and Union streets. The victim did not suffer any visible injuries and the mother was charged with assault.

► More than $1,400 worth of tools were stolen from the basement of a Bush Street public housing building between 4 p.m. June 6 and about 7:30 a.m. June 9. The lost property included drills, a hammer and cement pellets.

► Tools were also stolen from two NYCHA maintenance storage rooms in Red Hook on June 11 at about 5 p.m. About $155 in screwdrivers, a wrench and a can of WD40 were taken from a room on Henry Street between Bush Street and Center Mall. There was no forced entry and multiple people had access to the property.

Utility and taping knives were stolen from a storage space on Columbia Street between Bush Street and Center Mall.

It is not immediately clear if the crimes were related.
