UNION SQUARE — A towering statue of a businessman rose in Union Square Park this week to inspire passersby to think big.

The 12-foot-tall sculpture, called “THINK BIG,” was created to honor everyone who works hard to achieve their dreams and goals, the Parks Department said in a statement.

The work — by artist Jim Rennert, who has a background in business — depicts a man looking up at the sky, as if imagining possibilities, according to the statement.

“I’m so thrilled that I have been given the opportunity to exhibit 'THINK BIG' in such a vibrant, creative community,” Rennert said in a statement. “It’s been a dream of mine to have my sculpture on public view in New York and I hope the piece is an inspiration to the Union Square neighborhood and the entire city.”

"THINK BIG" has traveled across the country, stopping in Salt Lake City, Los Angeles and Miami. It was installed this week on Union Square East between 14th and 15th streets.

The artwork will be on display through October.

“Rennert’s public art installation is sure to captivate and inspire the hundreds of thousands of visitors that come through the neighborhood daily,” Jennifer Falk, executive director of the Union Square Partnership, said in a statement.
