THE BRONX — A man police said unleashed a single haymaker punch that caused the death of a Swiss tourist outside a Belmont bodega turned himself into police and was charged with misdemeanor assault Sunday.

Brownie Lopez, 19, was outside Guerrero Deli, 2334 Washington Ave., just after midnight Friday when Oliver D'Orio, 37, who was due to fly home the next day, started an argument with him that quickly turned physical, the NYPD said.

Surveillance footage shows the confrontation in which D'Orio briefly walks away only to return with his shirt off. The Swiss man, who was in town visiting his girlfriend, briefly looks away and his attacker drives a blow into the right side of his face, sending him tumbling backwards, the video shows.

D'Orio, who was born in Italy, was unconscious when he was taken to St. Barnabas hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Lopez, who lives in Morris Heights, turned himself in on Sunday and was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge, police said.

He has been arrested twice before, in March and April of this year, for fare evasion, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
