Body Found in Hudson River Near West 68th Street, Police Say

UPPER WEST SIDE — The body of a man was found floating in the Hudson River Tuesday afternoon, police said.

A witness spotted the unidentified man floating near West 68th Street and Riverside Drive about 12:40 p.m. and called 911, police said. The NYPD's Harbor Unit responded and transported the body to the Boat Basin docks at West 79th Street.

EMS personnel called to the scene pronounced the man dead, police said. 

A Parks Department employee at the Boat Basin confirmed that the body was found nearby, but declined to comment.

The Medical Examiner's Office is investigation the cause of death, police said, but the office did not respond to request for comment.
