EAST HARLEM — An FDNY Rescue Service truck racing to a food truck fire collided with a sedan Monday afternoon, sending a woman and an infant to the hospital, according to witnesses and officials.
The truck was headed southbound on Second Avenue when it crashed into the passenger side of a grey Toyota Camry sedan traveling east on East 115th Street about 1 p.m., fire officials said.
Witnesses said the sedan was carrying four people — two men in the front seats and a woman and infant in the back seat.
Witnesses said emergency workers put the woman and a child into an ambulance. Fire officials confirmed they transported two patients to St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in serious condition, but did not have information about their ages.
"The kid was slumped over," said witness Andy King, 52.
A child seat could be seen strapped into the back seat driver's side following the accident.
The NYPD did not immediately have any information about the accident.
