DUMBO — Brooklyn's most inspiring furnishing and lighting designers are back for the eleventh annual BKLYN DESIGNS in DUMBO.
This year's event will showcase 60 designers — handpicked by a jury of editors from design magazines — on the cutting edge of their fields.
The exhibitors at BKLYN DESIGNS focus on repurposing used materials, like Alexandra Ferguson, who makes pillows from recycled plastic water bottles, lamp designer Nadia Belalia, who studied at Pratt Institute and makes lamps adorned with peacock feathers, and TJ Volonis, who designs tables and chairs using copper tubing.
Newcomers include OFFCENTRE, which makes glass-blown light fixtures and Liz Collins, who creates flooring textiles from colorful yarn.
Designers set up fully furnished booths in the spacious St. Ann's Warehouse where visitors can roam the space and talk with presenters.
Along with designer's booths there will also be an outdoor kids lounge, Brooklyn-based food trucks, tours of Brooklyn Bridge Park, lectures and more.
The three-day event takes place May 9 through 11 at St. Ann's Warehouse at 29 Jay Street and around the corner in The Mark Jupiter Showroom at 191 Plymouth Street. Tickets cost $20 at the door.
