MOTT HAVEN — A man was hospitalized in serious condition after being shot in the hand and leg in the South Bronx Wednesday afternoon, according to the NYPD.

The violence broke out about 4 p.m. at East 147th Street near Third Avenue after a dispute between the unidentified 25-year-old victim and another man, officials said.

Ismael Cuevas, 56, said he was in his barbershop on Willis Avenue when he heard two shots ring out.

He left his store to see what was going on and saw the man shot in his right hand and left thigh.

"Everybody was surprised because it’s been a long time since we heard shots like that," Cuevas said.

The shooter fled on foot and there were no immediate arrests, police added.
