SOUNDVIEW — A 17-year-old boy was critically injured when two men shot him in the chest and leg at the Sotomayor Houses Monday morning, officials said.

The teen, whose name was not released, was at 1670 Watson Ave., near Soundview Avenue about 9 a.m., when two men dressed in black opened fire on him, according to NYPD and FDNY spokesmen.

He was taken to Jacobi hospital with critical injuries, the FDNY said.

The two assailants fled south on Metcalf Avenue toward Bruckner Boulevard, police said. They remained at large as of 1:30 p.m., a spokesman said.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the shooting. Police said their investigation is ongoing.
