Service Changes Planned for 15 Subway Lines This Weekend

MIDTOWN — Good luck getting around town this weekend.

Service changes are set to hit 15 subway lines from Friday night through early Monday as extensive MTA work takes place.

The 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, A, C, E, F, J, M, N, Q and R lines will undergo construction aimed at upgrading and maintaining tracks, stations and signals.

1 Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound 1 trains will run express from 145th Street to 96th Street because of steel repairs. Bronx-bound trains will run express from Chambers Street to 14th Street due to a vent-plant upgrade at Mulry Square.

2 Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday until 6:30 a.m. Sunday, and then from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Bronx-bound 2 trains will run express from Chambers Street to 14th Street because of the Mulry Square upgrades.

4 Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Bronx-bound 4 trains will skip Fulton Street as workers complete the Fulton Street Transit Center.

5 Line: From 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday, and from 7:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Bronx-bound 5 trains will also skip Fulton Street due to the transit center’s completion.

6 Line: From 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, 6 trains will run every 16 minutes between Third Avenue-138th Street in Mott Haven to Pelham Bay Park due to track panel installation at St. Lawrence Avenue. Some Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 trains will turn around at Third Avenue-138th Street. Until the end of May, 6 trains will also skip Middletown Road and Castle Hill Avenue in both directions because of station renewal work.

7 Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Queens-bound 7 trains will run express between Citi Field and 74th Street-Broadway due to signal work.

A Line: From 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, A trains will not run between Jay Street-MetroTech and Utica Avenue in Crown Heights due to track tie renewal north of the Hoyt-Schermerhorn station. Transfer between A trains and free shuttle buses at Jay Street-MetroTech or Utica Avenue.

C Line: From 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, C trains are suspended between West 4th Street and Euclid Avenue due to track tie renewal north of Hoyt-Schermerhorn.

E Line: From 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound E train trains are rerouted on the F line after 36th Street in Queens to West 4th Street because of Hurricane Sandy-related work in the 53rd Street tunnel. Free shuttle buses will operate between Court Square-23rd Street and 21st Street-Queensbridge, stopping at Queens Plaza.

From 12:15 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and from 12:15 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Jamaica Center-bound E trains will run express from Queens Plaza to Forest Hills 71st Avenue due to tunnel lighting installation south of the Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Avenue.

From 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, Queens-bound E trains will skip 75th Avenue and Briarwood Van Wyck Boulevard due to signal modernization at Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Kew Gardens Union Turnpike.

F Line: From 9:45 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, Queens-bound Fs will be rerouted via the E line from Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue to 47-50th Street-Rockefeller Center because of Second Avenue Subway work.

From 12:15 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday, Queens-bound F trains will skip Briarwood Van Wyck Boulevard and Sutphin Boulevard because of signal work at Forest Hills 71st Avenue and Kew Gardens Union Turnpike.

J Line: From 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, Queens-bound J trains will run express from Marcy Avenue to Broadway Junction due to track work and repairs.

M Line: From 4 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, M trains will run every 20 minutes because of track work from Flushing Avenue to Myrtle Avenue and track repairs near Broadway Junction.

N Line: From 12:01 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday, Coney Island-bound Ns will run local between 36th Street and 59th Street in Sunset Park due to track tie renewal.

Q Line: Until the summer, Coney Island-bound Q trains will skip Parkside Avenue, Beverly Road and Cortelyou Road due to painting and concrete repair work on station platforms at those stops.

R Line: From 6:30 a.m. until midnight Saturday and Sunday, Queens-bound R trains will run express from Queens Plaza to Forest Hills-71st Avenue as crews install tunnel lights south of Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Sunday, and from 11:30 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday, R trains will be suspended between 59th Street and 36th Street in Sunset Park due to track tie renewal.
