DONGAN HILLS — Thieves pretended to buy a chair from a Staten Island Staples but had instead loaded the box with nearly $1,800 worth of iPad and printer gear, police said.

The two men walked into the store at 1885 Hylan Blvd. on Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m., took iPhone and iPad cases and HP printer toner from the shelves and put them inside a box meant for a chair, police said.

They paid for the chair and left the store with the merchandise still inside the box, police said.

Police described one suspect as 5-foot-11 and around 25-years-old, weighing 210 pounds. He was wearing a red baseball cap, a blue jacket and tan pants.

The other was described as 180 pounds, 5-foot-7 and around 30-years-old. He was wearing glasses, a green sweatshirt, blue jeans and tan boots.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
