MANHATTAN — A man was fatally shot while standing in front of a Morningside Avenue apartment building Thursday night, police said.

The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was outside 98 Morningside Ave., near West 123rd Street, when another man walked up to him and shot him in the head and shoulder about 9:30 p.m., the NYPD said.

The victim was taken to St. Luke's hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

No arrests had been made as of Friday morning, an NYPD spokesman said.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the shooting, the spokesman said.
