QUEENS — Police officers responding to 311 complaints of a tenant playing the radio too loud wound up ditching the noise citation in favor of a massive drug bust instead, the NYPD said.

Officers responding to a third-floor apartment at 67-11 161st Street were ready to issue a warning at 11:05 p.m. Friday, when Frank Giardina opened the door holding a marijuana pipe, the NYPD said.

The police asked for Giardina's identification as they prepared to write a summons, when he invited the officers in while he went to find his ID, police said.

Once inside, police took a look around only to stumble across a surprising find: Giardina allegedly had five pounds of heroin out sitting on his kitchen table, according to police. After police arrested him and the courts granted a search warrant for the place, the NYPD uncovered an additional 1,948 glassines of heroin as well as packaging equipment, police said.

Police charged Giardina with several counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, including intent to sell. He was also charged with criminal possession of marijuana.
