MANHATTAN — Sixty residents in three West 60th Street apartment buildings were forced from their homes Thursday morning by a gas leak caused by a construction accident, the FDNY said.

A gas main outside 225 West 60th St., near Amsterdam Avenue, ruptured about 7:50 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

That building along with 227 West 60th St. and 232 West 60th St. were both evacuated as gas leaked into the buildings, the spokesman said.

No one was immediately injured, the FDNY said.

The leak was stopped about 9 a.m., a fire spokesman said.

Con Edison was on scene, the FDNY said.
