BROOKLYN — Two men were arrested for placing an ATM skimming device at a Chase Bank on Flatbush Avenue Tuesday, police said.

Workers from the Chase Bank at 290 Flatbush Ave. alerted the NYPD that the device, which reads and saves people's debit card and ATM card information, had been placed on one of their machines. Police then sent a surveillance team to watch the bank.

At about 10:10 p.m., Laurentiu Baies, 34, and Marcel Boariu, 36, re-entered the vestibule and removed a door-mounted Parabit card reader and cameras mounted onto the ATM, police said.

Detectives then arrested the men, who are both homeless, the NYPD said.

Police could not immediately say if they believe the men were working alone or if the skimming device had ever been placed on ATMs at that bank before.

Both men were charged with burglary, criminal possession of a forgery device and criminal possession of a skimmer device.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
